How To Get Rid of Love Handles

You feel good. You look good. You just have two little problems, and they both stick out over the top of your shorts in a way that makes you not want to wear t-shirts or midriff tops. ‘Love handles’ are cute on other people, but when you find them on your own body it’s usually not a happy moment.

Happily, it’s not that difficult to learn how to get rid of love handles. All it really takes is a little more activity and a lot less junk food. By following a few basic guidelines for good health and nutrition, you can get your old body back and feel better in the process.

The following tips will help anyone get rid of love handles:

• Get moving. In earlier times, life was hard work. People lived in rural areas where wood had to be chopped, gardens weeded, corn shucked, laundry washed and ironed by hand, and much more. Now, many people get no exercise at all. Simply adding 30-45 minutes each day of moderate physical activity will make a noticeable change in how you look and how you feel.
• Eat more. That got your attention, didn’t it? Eat more fresh vegetables, more fresh fruit, more coldwater broiled fish, more lean chicken, more olive oil, more nuts. Eat more low-fat dairy products, especially the kind with pro-biotic cultures such as unsweetened Greek yogurt, (pro-biotic cultures help you digest your food better and prevent bloat through proper elimination).
• Eat less. Stop rewarding yourself with bad food. Instead, buy yourself something nice, take a bubble bath, walk your dog, do anything that makes you happy except eat sweets or fats. Eat less processed food, fast food, saturated fat (like butter and whole milk products), sweet foods (sweets are often high in fat), salt (chips, pretzels), and less cheese and processed meat.
• Increase your fiber intake. One of the easiest ways to do this is to eat a cup of beans twice a week. You can make bean salad, baked beans, refried beans (low fat), or anything that makes use of legumes. Beans are high in fiber, low in fat, and contain essential nutrients and trace minerals that are missing from many diets.
• Reduce stress. When your body is stressed it releases a substance called ‘cortisol’ into your blood stream and that substance causes the body to store fat around the midsection. Luckily, one of the best ways to reduce stress is to participate in vigorous exercise at least three or four times a week.
• Take a yoga class. Have you ever seen a yoga teacher with love handles? Probably not, though no doubt a few do exist. Yoga creates an awareness of one’s body and breath through a system of gentle stretches and sustained poses. Simply learning to breath properly while moving your body can transform it in ways that are truly amazing. Most community centers offer yoga classes, and many health clubs and hospitals do as well.

Learning how to get rid of love handles starts with learning how to take care of your self. While fatting, bad food and sedentary habits may seem to cheer you up temporarily, in truth they are just bad habits; nothing more, nothing less.

Experts say that replacing a bad habit with a good one takes about two weeks. Start today with each of the above suggestions and you can kiss love handle good-bye in eight weeks or even less.
